AS Media Source of Inspiration

AS Media Source of Inspiration

Source:

My source of inspiration was the picture above of a grandfather walking down a dimly lit corridor. This to me inspires the idea of loneliness and reflection. This could link to the genre of horror as you could include an antagonist that is protective over a certain place or idea that is sentimental to him. His also brings forward the idea of chronic loneliness as it shows the idea of dwelling on something or holding a grudge. This makes me want to utilise this method of presenting loneliness within a project;
-        Using the theme as a stimulus for a story line
-        Utilising the same black and white filter as a form of transition or blurred vision
-        Using a desolate warn down location
-        Using a longshot of a corridor to establish the setting
-        Using a long shot trolley shot to follow a character’s life
-        Using the same shot for a different effect:
As a jump scare
Panning shot to killer
POV shot for a victim
Reflection/flashback to something

Alternatively, this can be interpreted as a sentimental person haunting a place or person in an attempt to communicate or insinuate a message. This could link to the sub-genre of supernatural which would include the use of all the listed points above. Also it shows that whilst the subject is old the world he or she lives in is modern (cables and plug sockets) showing that there is still a sentiment embedded within the subject and showing their inability to let go and move on. This could be employed as the nature of a character in a film. This would typically be seen in a teen drama as stereotypically teens hold grudges and dwell on things that happened in the past and keeping that perception of people.

Overall the ideas of dwelling and loneliness intrigue me significantly as they are almost relatable subjects that can lie subliminally within a piece of media text without the necessary conformity to reality being present.
